Rainbow, mostly fingering weight. Can't remember where I got it or what the fiber content is. I'm so bad, haha, I just bought it and spun it.<br />

<br />
Firstly, here's a better picture of my Mother of Dragons shrug:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8IkC5RcswGy_eq0GDzSg_YnFFHZYIsQdVRFz80pZEqfRwHxXfPYZ8z6TqJ_ORHk77pU_ouLUBBe0STdH-ErOl5agN8zmr7DfXuI-ec4h97TGHPW7aIwKXYdLsZS3RFiwT-q_0zqnEAg5l/s1600/IMG_20141025_095512.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8IkC5RcswGy_eq0GDzSg_YnFFHZYIsQdVRFz80pZEqfRwHxXfPYZ8z6TqJ_ORHk77pU_ouLUBBe0STdH-ErOl5agN8zmr7DfXuI-ec4h97TGHPW7aIwKXYdLsZS3RFiwT-q_0zqnEAg5l/s1600/IMG_20141025_095512.jpg" height="320" width="317" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB7wlbYbzmrVSbK0Q689u864LAdtH4WPCSK8pPQzXnlQ8awDQPNssTP_MolSIqK27SIO53Em_cgYLkaCjSuz736ZCe4u3Et_3V5QbkId2F2VS3_m79K8IpmJTR0AnTblR8k32FNkcPq6M5/s1600/IMG_20141025_095443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB7wlbYbzmrVSbK0Q689u864LAdtH4WPCSK8pPQzXnlQ8awDQPNssTP_MolSIqK27SIO53Em_cgYLkaCjSuz736ZCe4u3Et_3V5QbkId2F2VS3_m79K8IpmJTR0AnTblR8k32FNkcPq6M5/s1600/IMG_20141025_095443.jpg" height="190" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Secondly, I spun a beautiful new skin of yarn using some merino wool that a friend of mine picked up on a trip she took. I call it, Cream in my Coffee.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSiTLvFdwpNVX2Ri2iU_aue9wM_ol4VrbivVP32ctzDOd90X8_98gGrGAd_IpHoSolpO4yul3zrcBq2HPgY9iljlWIDWPJSWxUI3myal-ej86aKdoffGMx3Vzp5Qs5gCk4PPZGON0-XA4/s1600/IMG_20141105_235536.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSiTLvFdwpNVX2Ri2iU_aue9wM_ol4VrbivVP32ctzDOd90X8_98gGrGAd_IpHoSolpO4yul3zrcBq2HPgY9iljlWIDWPJSWxUI3myal-ej86aKdoffGMx3Vzp5Qs5gCk4PPZGON0-XA4/s1600/IMG_20141105_235536.jpg" height="154" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And finally, with Giftmas approaching, I have things to knit for little kids. I have three little girls and one little boy for whom to knit. I am making three different ragdolls, one for each girl, and a ragdoll puppy dog for the little boy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the first doll:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggO9HVcRvqYAB4WeV3a5DHi7uS7aUgh-Lj_qLf0SWzA9iKJsYSVPOoWPXLKRs8aPs2GlK7d_Eeqb7uAGGGCxuGsDk410NuGQcuWHD7v33ezogXeneBkdn3gz0MZPzOZdUWhKy4mAqzSd5n/s1600/IMG_20141113_102229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggO9HVcRvqYAB4WeV3a5DHi7uS7aUgh-Lj_qLf0SWzA9iKJsYSVPOoWPXLKRs8aPs2GlK7d_Eeqb7uAGGGCxuGsDk410NuGQcuWHD7v33ezogXeneBkdn3gz0MZPzOZdUWhKy4mAqzSd5n/s1600/IMG_20141113_102229.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, of course, the cat had to check her out, too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvcfQgmcf4cmrc7UWPMDKNkZjkZZgzQzkE5Xox5rM-zK1hrbXgtac3MUFH157jWqzwXV7NvEr9rQObmXTnBgSI26jfnv7I9rGiqbQ8w5wmAumZdnljDQy9f9XTWVZPg7v1xFuxptlW_zgX/s1600/IMG_20141113_102235.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvcfQgmcf4cmrc7UWPMDKNkZjkZZgzQzkE5Xox5rM-zK1hrbXgtac3MUFH157jWqzwXV7NvEr9rQObmXTnBgSI26jfnv7I9rGiqbQ8w5wmAumZdnljDQy9f9XTWVZPg7v1xFuxptlW_zgX/s1600/IMG_20141113_102235.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
More posts, soon! T'is the season to knit things, so a-knitting I shall go!</div>

Bad jupe! I should've posted earlier, but honestly, I've not been knitting a whole hell of a lot. On the other hand, I HAVE been spinning a lot.<br />
<br />
My lovely friend, <a href="http://www.studioloo.com/" target="_blank">Cindy Cole Bennett</a>, gave me one of her old spinning wheels, an Ashford Joy. I've been spinning up a storm and will post pictures of many of my lovely new handspun at the end of this post.<br />
<br />
First, though, is a short list of some of the projects I've been working on, in no particular order.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/baby-booties-2"><img border="0" src="http://images4-d.ravelrycache.com/uploads/jupe/250785860/img_20140902_134758_medium2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /><span id="goog_1341356004"></span><span id="goog_1341356005"></span></a></div>
<br />
Booties for a lady at the gym who is pregnant. She runs the childcare centre and is always great with my kids. This is the least I could do for her.<br />
<br />
<br />
Winter is coming and Nick's head is getting bigger. I made him a new hat and cowl set for the chillier months. I didn't line it with fleece because he's often running and playing and I want his head to breathe a bit. I hope these fun colours keep winter bright.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/luuk"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5NdnveeND-5K_kprD5fO0whmqb-Jrp7pPTE4vhClqeWqJjOkxdmTijf5wP_NGNb0ajsqj9_H4zAB2XHgijI9A33VU-NSC4n__3wr-8Z5A_Ddui6PcTHuq3Ins8BrJl-eR6NMsoIxkr0k-/s1600/IMG_20141024_093642.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
The project that truly will never end, Aquaphobia, is now over 50% done, as I completed the first sock and started on the second. This pattern is so annoying to me. Some people love it, but not me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/aquaphobia-socks"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCBmguVL82XLQ0dzrBRcLJLi3WDh71zb9oDdjIJ-w_jBGGbuo38Yddkx-Xj3-diyByxOHrTkfXPY9sdjKVbOSN7pUumojCpuyBJNMhtRBqhRST-vRFSH8VXMW6YB-WBwHMf18OMTZMgN88/s1600/IMG_20141024_094248.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
A teacup cosy is exactly what the doctor ordered now that the weather is getting cooler and more cups of tea are being poured. I usually make it by the cup so a cup sized cosy made the most sense for me. (I also started making a teapot cosy, but I haven't yet woven in ends nor added floral embellishments. I'll take a WIP pic)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/fancy-mug-cozy"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuEsg8uqnOO_B7hWa6LrGaDO0kSH3Suv3kssDrCFoLxFaCbwCojFmxjS-Ow3NEkD7to3cJbmMm0AMqy7sqSweeQwVoUViaBzFhUalG1dyRrpyE1avdte-o4tdu5VVKigxcnhNyFZL1Gu-m/s1600/IMG_20141024_094224.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/flower-garden-tea-cosy"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcZPANJSAyrWFrpVWYch9C6Cj43LQ64zq2gNVFF5vNF40Eh3cPif-SEcr2aQOL8unE63R7_GxqUG7Gmb8Qw7SaIl5SqDrPFaMFX2M4cTJZEjsvKXrhizp3LWsl1rPGx3OkT3_dYPGY-u_P/s1600/IMG_20141024_101922.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Moving along, I have only a few more knitting projects to show off, then I'll make another post just for the handspun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First off is a shrug that was called Birds of a Feather. I made it out of a lovely eco wool in a navy blue and instead of birds, I used dragons. I call it my Mother of Dragons shrug.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't have any pics of the completed product but I wear it all the time, as the weather is perfect. Here's a WIP photo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you haven't already caught on from my other comments (Winter is Coming and Mother of Dragons) I'm a Game of Thrones fan. These socks aren't close to finished, but they're a fun and focused knit named after Brienne of Tarth, the Sapphire Isles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/brienne"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBGN-dx6eihSnn4_Bgm8D3q2V3xOBt7RhBfEeP-PhaYI68-5GORiKQmCiIkanHE0pCo5Hnd6OEbi0RJs0c3FAWAj11TnmWvsgJPuL3t7I77Ud8S1ACmPI96qUBe1DiTWEyxYGuPO6x0t1I/s1600/IMG_20140905_223750.jpg" height="320" width="276" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think that's it, for now. I will have more FOs to show off at some point, as Christmas knitting is beginning to happen. Also, a huge project of many handknit items is coming up in preparation for Comic Con 2015 in Toronto. Here's hoping I can get enough stuff finished to make a profit! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next post -- spinning!</div>

<br />
<br />
First off, I finished my niece's Zita.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOUTKaSBJbJpjqsxoD745F0xY7lXKQKzW9Bu4dpBLSeWoOGLiu9FU02-5NbBZCMsVY7k06noaepn46fX7WCteGRxphQNnfb0MoEyKt_cb_F_usH-H-Owl_mZ0fq2APiQl_OcB9YHEjHmF/s1600/IMG_20140415_201103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOUTKaSBJbJpjqsxoD745F0xY7lXKQKzW9Bu4dpBLSeWoOGLiu9FU02-5NbBZCMsVY7k06noaepn46fX7WCteGRxphQNnfb0MoEyKt_cb_F_usH-H-Owl_mZ0fq2APiQl_OcB9YHEjHmF/s320/IMG_20140415_201103.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Next, I finished the first Aquaphobia sock. After a year. I know, not exactly fruitful, but at least slightly productive, right?
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVGhdQnkek_9BQteFNuLH3QbXzS7DfcJUA27MufK0brhsNJZHk_pCu-4H74zaeF7aOV5rPPklJFkvRnnhGdpEnUHpcPxORYo-6r_fWfxIcSL6AgokCaVrBLUMLO8_qGYz9JSvkZ-0jhjzQ/s1600/IMG_20140416_095305.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVGhdQnkek_9BQteFNuLH3QbXzS7DfcJUA27MufK0brhsNJZHk_pCu-4H74zaeF7aOV5rPPklJFkvRnnhGdpEnUHpcPxORYo-6r_fWfxIcSL6AgokCaVrBLUMLO8_qGYz9JSvkZ-0jhjzQ/s320/IMG_20140416_095305.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Third, I started on a Young Einstein for the little guy. The shoulders are almost done.
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeS21oNho5aVM36F_Iwfutb-gLPxIJ4E8alOQoMOU9zSpRiESdoYzPSyj6V4krn0lhFT09PcnOlcw99-xRn8mRkmO-EQypv0xC1WvECKxofxL2XVDiTd-BasgSDK5YFODkqWK2b3KguAxe/s1600/IMG_20140416_095037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeS21oNho5aVM36F_Iwfutb-gLPxIJ4E8alOQoMOU9zSpRiESdoYzPSyj6V4krn0lhFT09PcnOlcw99-xRn8mRkmO-EQypv0xC1WvECKxofxL2XVDiTd-BasgSDK5YFODkqWK2b3KguAxe/s320/IMG_20140416_095037.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Fourth, I'm working on a sun hat to match the Zita. The brim of the hat mirrors the band on the dress. (no picture yet, but the same colour as the dress)
And Fifth, I just finished spinning the FML Skein. Why is it the FML skein? Because it got tangled all to shit and I spent three hours detangling it.

With that out of the way, I should also mention that I went to the DKC Knitters Frolic again this year. It's a once a year event where they hold workshops and have a huge marketplace of yarn and spinning and other goodies which you can buy (and for those with a budget, just drool over).
I picked up some new fibre and a skein of yarn.

Oh, and lastly, I've added a knitmeter and spinmeter to the site. Just a fun way to keep track of how much I've knit and spun this year. We'll see whether or not I keep up with it :P</div>

I used Cascade Heritage Paints sock yarn in a beautiful pink colour.<br />
<br />
The original pattern called for a 64 stitch cast on which, for me, is usually good enough for my foot. This one knits a little bit tight and I found myself ripping out three reps of the pattern and casting on again with 72 stitches and adjusting accordingly. You can read about my adjustments on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/tadpoles" target="_blank">my Ravelry project page</a>.<br />
<br />
The pattern itself is really easy to remember. After looking at the whole pattern and counting the number of stitches I had to start with, the rest was instantly memorized. I could have done the pattern for the whole of the leg, too, but I really wanted to knit it up quickly, so the project stayed as was stated in the pattern.<br />
<br />
These are cosy and soft and fit perfectly. Anyone who wants a fast, easy, and engaging without attention pattern should try this one out.<br />

I'm going to put forth a genuine effort again to keep things going.<br />
<br />
First off, I finished my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/miranda" target="_blank">Miranda</a> sweater. I misread the pattern and did the version without the front pocket, but honestly? I can live without the front pocket. I wore it on Patrick's Day. It's just warm and snuggly. I thought I would've needed a tanktop beneath it but it's perfectly fine against my skin. I usually find wool, even superwash merino, slightly itchy. This merino? Not itchy. It's just soft and lovely. Here are a couple pictures:<br />

Next up is a WIP of mine. They're called Tadpoles and they're actually very reminiscent of Monkey socks, only reverse.<br />
<br />
I originally cast on 64 for this sock and got to the third rep of the pattern when I realised in dismay that they were too small for my foot. After much swearing, I ripped the whole thing out and cast on 72 instead, modifying the pattern accordingly to work with the added stitches. The first sock is about 3/4 done now and fits like a dream. They also look beautiful. Here are some WIP pictures.<br />
<br />

<br />
Finally, I finished a project that had been hibernating for about a year and another that had been hibernating about six months, now. First is my husband's Dwarven Battle Bonnet:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKhSmx7eU5xerAwExqoNwlI5ZPUtFgqBkcgRgf6e4yj3nyriRRDtK0WBBn1p3_a43pAfzm-OjmpV4R2NxXQ8dpiucgDqo9FdBE3kt6PfjRHBzbwNVk8KlnAPA8YkEVuRZuuxTP0ZCJwDdZ/s1600/IMG_20140303_084926.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKhSmx7eU5xerAwExqoNwlI5ZPUtFgqBkcgRgf6e4yj3nyriRRDtK0WBBn1p3_a43pAfzm-OjmpV4R2NxXQ8dpiucgDqo9FdBE3kt6PfjRHBzbwNVk8KlnAPA8YkEVuRZuuxTP0ZCJwDdZ/s1600/IMG_20140303_084926.jpg" height="320" width="287" /></a></div>

<br />
And second are the cigar smoking gloves I made him. He hasn't worn them yet but I know he likes them. It's just a matter of catching him for a photo wearing them.<br />

And here I am, forgetting other projects I finished since my last post.<br />
<br />

I still haven't finished the Aquaphobia socks because the pattern is boring and tedious (first sock is still under construction. I'm thinking of just frogging it) and in lieu of finishing it, I've finished so many other projects.<br />
<br />
Here is a list of the stuff I've finished!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The last time I really posted here was my pre-NYC trip. I really ought to post a few things about the trip, even though it's super late.<br />
<br />
Here goes.<br />
<br />
I did a little bit of knitting while I was on my trip. I worked on my Aquaphobia socks on the subway and I knocked out some USA themed hexipuffs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZIGLP2gpGgK4OKOT17Z1vw5jI4PqMPElFlGUjNSEXOwp4SZhV0HvvPJR3AwAzLaJAEQBpHk8A15BbUrueuos7NnUSVkXjAvw8ymExjLokhq-rbmHTn5qXpVk1hLgz_iU0FhuOCmIeDjiH/s1600/IMG_20130525_105428_821.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZIGLP2gpGgK4OKOT17Z1vw5jI4PqMPElFlGUjNSEXOwp4SZhV0HvvPJR3AwAzLaJAEQBpHk8A15BbUrueuos7NnUSVkXjAvw8ymExjLokhq-rbmHTn5qXpVk1hLgz_iU0FhuOCmIeDjiH/s1600/IMG_20130525_105428_821.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We were staying in Brooklyn and on day 2 of our trip, we decided to go for a really, REALLY long walk to check out some local yarn stores.<br />
<br />
We actually got around to checking out two of them.<br />
<br />
The first store we stopped by was called <a href="http://stitchtherapybrooklyn.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Stitch Therapy</a> and the lady who ran the shop, Maxcine, was lovely, pleasant, and very knowledgeable. Her store is small but not overly so. There is plenty of space to sit and knit. I picked up 4 oz of angora rabbit from her store for a really reasonable price. Here are some pictures!<br />
<br />

<br />
After Stitch Therapy we found our way to Argyle Yarns which was about a thirty minute walk. It was a beautiful day and we were glad to make the trek. The display was beautiful, but I'm sad to say that the staff seemed a little cold to me.<br />
<br />
I purchased some short birch DPNs to work on hexipuffs but they were the wrong size as it turned out. When I went for an exchange, I was refused, but I needed the DPNs so I gave in and bought them, anyway.<br />
<br />
Here are some pictures of her store. It was spacious and airy.<br />

<br />
<br />
A few days after visiting initially, I stopped by Stitch Therapy again to knit with Maxcine for awhile and talk about the local sights. We decided after that to hit the Brooklyn Bridge.<br />
<br />
Anyway, this isn't a huge post about the whole trip to NYC... just the knitting portion! SO, shoutout to two stores with great selection. I would highly recommend anyone going to Brooklyn to stop by Stitch Therapy and hang out with Maxcine. :)jupehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16488804079290495472noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914311354583861002.post-21325373373214194062013-07-17T16:16:00.001-04:002013-07-17T16:18:26.934-04:00Celebrity KnittingI'm not much of a Starfucker but I do smile when I hear about famous people who knit. The latest one I heard of was Ryan Gosling -- who, by the way, is Canadian, so DOUBLE PROPS.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
GQ Australia did a<a href="http://www.gq.com.au/life/people/galleries/ryan+gosling,22525" target="_blank"> pretty lengthy interview with him</a> -- about ninteen pages in their gallery, and around page 16 came this little tidbit:<br />
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">It’s a brief glimpse inside the mindset of a man who’s aware of his own success, and doesn’t want to acknowledge it or try to build on it, for fear of jinxing things. Perhaps he’s not so happy-go-lucky after all. What does he do to unwind from all that? Exercise, TV marathons, um... knitting?</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“I do like to knit actually.” He stops. “You’re laughing.”</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Yes.</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“It’s true.”</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Right. Well, what does he knit?</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“You know, like, scarves, hats. I can’t do anything really elaborate, but I can do the basics. I can cast on and off and all that.”</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Honestly?</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“No no, it’s true, and by the way it’s a very manly thing to do. Cowboys used to knit on their horses.”</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">It’s an interesting factoid, even if Gosling didn’t learn his needle skills in the saddle.</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“I did this scene in Lars and the Real Girl where I was in a room full of old ladies who were knitting, and it was an all-day scene, so they showed me how. It was one of the most relaxing days of my life. If I had to design my perfect day, that would be it. And you get something out of it at the end. You get a nice present. For someone who wants an oddly shaped, off-putting scarf.”</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Would he ever make woollens for a living?</span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">“No,” he says, trying not to giggle. “I mean, I’m too slow for that. I’ve gotta be honest — I could turn out like one scarf a month.”</span></blockquote>
</blockquote>
<br />
Sorry, but that's pretty cool.<br />
<br />
As for other project stuffs, I have some FOs, some WIPs, and my adventure in NYC to post about. It'll be coming in the next couple of weeks, I promise.jupehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16488804079290495472noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914311354583861002.post-91206985695120205222013-05-25T10:59:00.001-04:002013-05-25T10:59:54.429-04:00I'm leaving on a jet planeBut I do know when I'll be back again. It was a beautiful brilliant red top merino. Being a complete noob, I didn't realise that it is okay if you overspin your yarn and unspun a lot of it . Needless to say, it was felty looking and ugly.<br />
<br />
Now that I have a couple more skeins under my belt, not to mention the awesome new spindle, I took it upon myself to "fix" the yarn.<br />
<br />
I spun about 50 grams of yarn, made an Andean bracelet on Justin's recommendation, and plied it to itself.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is the old Raggedy Anne (before I untwisted it):<br />

It all turned out so beautiful! I did the first skein with a wooden spindle I got at the Kitchener Waterloo Knitters Fair and the other, newer skein with a spindle Justin gave me. I keep forgetting what it's called. Ashford, I think?<br />
<br />
Here are the pictures.<br />
<br />
Older handspun:<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
And now I'm going to start some new handspun. New colour = exciting! I think I'll use some merino I picked up in Kitchener. Sooo stoked :)<br />

Technically, the beautiful mooshy yarn was cursed. BUT I broke the curse by finishing a pair of awesome Mystery Socks.<br />

It's soft and smooshy and purple and reminded me of the powers of the Nictus. Since I already have a spun yarn called Nictus I decided to name this yarn after one of the enemies in City of Heroes, Requiem.<br />
<br />
Here's a picture of the skein. Sooooo purty!<br />

I have two current projects on the go and have completed a couple. I think I'll cast on the final bit of my custom design and we'll go from there after it's done. I'll need to knit it a second time but that can wait. I scoped out some beautiful hand dyed merino from <a href="http://www.happygoluckyyarn.com/" target="_blank">Happy Go Lucky Yarn</a>. I met the owner of the yarn on the interbutts through a mutual friend and fell in love with her colourways. I love <a href="http://www.happygoluckyyarn.com/images/colors/violentviolet.jpg" target="_blank">this one</a> in particular because it reminds me of my own <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/jupe/marywarmers" target="_blank">Early Labour Armwarmers</a>.<br />
<br />
Anyway, with that out of the way, here are some pictures of my WIPs and my FOs.<br />

At least, the finished objects (plus one of two socks).<br />
<br />
Will I knit more this year? Let's hope so.<br />

On the needles now: Hotshot hoodie for my yoga instructor. Finished: a baby onesie which just needs buttons sewn on.<br />

<br />
New design coming soon. I just need to do the neckwarmer to match. Stay tuned.<br />

It's been sitting in a corner for far too long. I've completed steps 1 and 2. When completed, the yarn will be organised and accessible instead of sitting in a giant mountain in the corner of my living room.<br />
<br />
Read more after the cut.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Step 1 was organising all my yarn by fibre content or type and I've categorised it as such:<br />
<br />
Cotton yarn<br />
Acrylic and acrylic blends<br />
Sock, DK, and Sport yarn<br />
Luxury Wool<br />
Alpaca and Merino wool<br />
Plain wool<br />
Fibre and my handspun<br />
<br />
Step 2 was putting all this yarn into vacuum garment bags. I used 7 out of the 8 I bought.<br />
<br />
Here is a picture of my victory.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMnCYZO0ybsTlCYvwci2T6a6fKx8pC8fiiiCYMYAKohEulfeEOiw4KDRpi6wu2MpspPfqqlmml6TUgwQWkVSXaF96GO0VNxqNRTtW6gJbaIMFxMUdRzz1AtI75LJbxBA_BXhobiXfUHQh/s1600/2013-01-14+16.06.58.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrMnCYZO0ybsTlCYvwci2T6a6fKx8pC8fiiiCYMYAKohEulfeEOiw4KDRpi6wu2MpspPfqqlmml6TUgwQWkVSXaF96GO0VNxqNRTtW6gJbaIMFxMUdRzz1AtI75LJbxBA_BXhobiXfUHQh/s320/2013-01-14+16.06.58.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The final steps will be hanging the cloth shelving I got from IKEA and putting the yarn in the shelving. If worse comes to worse, I'll get more little bags and split the current bags into more bags.<br />
<br />
In other news, I have a few quick projects on the go. A couple of my instructors at the gym are having babies and I'm a huge advocate for quick baby knits. More on those when I finish. WHEEEE! Tonight is knit night so I'll likely get a crapload of stuff done. Either that, or like at every knit night, I'll just end up ripping it all out. With me? Either is completely possible.jupehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16488804079290495472noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914311354583861002.post-57748355603691002592013-01-06T03:03:00.003-05:002013-01-06T03:06:05.798-05:00MOAR FOs!I finished 2012 strong and have already started a couple awesome projects in 2013.<br />

The drop spindle is maple, as I recall, and was purchased at Gemini Fibres. They had a lot of beautiful merino fibre for sale and I picked up some crimson for my premiere project. In addition, I got some roving from Linda's Craftique and a mystery box from Wellington Fibres.<br />
<br />
My first handspun was the crimson, and it's not the prettiest thing in the world, but I still love it.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
I called it, "Raggedy Anne".</div>
<br />
Once I was familiar with the concept of drop spinning, I started on the mystery box. I actually spun about 30g worth of roving before real life stepped in and told me to focus on kids and such. With Behemoth starting school and problems stemming there, my knitting had to take a back seat.<br />
<br />
It wasn't until yesterday, beginning of December, that I picked it up again, but in one day, I ended up spinning about 70g of roving in two 50g batches. Pleased with the results, I actually double plied it and came up with an absolutely gorgeous skein of chunky yarn.<br />

It's actually sitting in the sink right now with some hot water and vinegar to set. I'll be taking it out in about ten minutes. It's gorgeous. It's soft and smushy and I think it has a bit of mohair in it, but not enough to piss me off. Because my favourite video game shut down, I sort of named it after an archetype as a kind of homage. It's called Nictus and I cannot wait to see the final product.<br />
<br />
Spinning is winning. I have a couple more projects in mind and really hope that they turn out well. I've been inspired by my good friend <a href="http://www.studioloo.com/" target="_blank">Cindy</a> and want to make gorgeous art yarns to knit up scarves and hats with. We'll see how it goes. Baby steps, and I think I'm doing well so far.jupehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16488804079290495472noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8914311354583861002.post-90583093683882742362012-11-30T16:23:00.001-05:002012-11-30T16:28:58.526-05:00Almost a full year of FOsWow, it's been way too long since I last updated this page. My apologies to anyone following.<br />
<br />
I have a huge number of finished objects to update with. It's just been much busier for me, so updating the page with the FOs, along with Rav with FOs, as well as shouldering two feisty crotchfruit is a lot of work.<br />
<br />
I've been enjoying my knitting group at Whole Foods. The people I've met and the friends I've made are just amazing. I look forward to going every week.<br />
<br />
I've brought knitting travelling to Mexico and to Thunder Bay. So many wonderful memories this year.<br />
<br />
I have one more commission to finish up - which means maybe one more blog post this week. Won't that be novel? I'd better get back to knitting, eh? <br />
<br />
Go just past the cut to check out all my finished projects.<br />
